One of Nashville’s most beloved comfort food spots has officially packed up its Hillsboro Village shop and headed back to the east side.

After nine years in Hillsboro Village, The Grilled Cheeserie has closed that location and reopened inside Hunter’s Station in East Nashville. The new spot began serving customers last week at 975 Main Street, right in the heart of the city’s busy Five Points corridor.

For longtime fans of the sandwich shop, the move feels a little like a homecoming.

Owners Crystal and Joseph opened the Hillsboro Village restaurant back in 2017 with a simple idea: grilled cheese could genuinely make someone’s day a little better. Over nearly a decade, that little shop turned into a neighborhood staple — hosting everything from first jobs and first dates to snow-day lunches, milkshake collaborations, and plenty of late-night comfort food cravings.

Now, the next chapter is unfolding just across the river.

A Fresh Menu (And A New Ice Cream Concept)

The new East Nashville location isn’t just a relocation — it’s also bringing some new ideas with it.

One of the bigger additions is The Creamerie, a soft-serve dessert concept attached to the restaurant. Expect classic soft serve along with hard shell dips and other ice cream treats, giving the grilled cheese shop a full dessert counter to match the sandwiches.

The restaurant is also introducing “Melt of the Moment” specials, which will rotate and take inspiration from other restaurants around East Nashville.

Meanwhile, the core menu is getting a fresh update of its classic melts, though longtime fans shouldn’t worry — the shop’s signature cheesy comfort food is still very much the heart of the operation.

Why Hunter’s Station?

If you’ve spent any time in East Nashville, the location makes perfect sense.

Hunter’s Station has quietly become one of the neighborhood’s busiest food halls, packed with a mix of restaurants, coffee shops, and local food concepts — all inside a former industrial warehouse just off Main Street.

The Grilled Cheeserie slots neatly into that environment: quick comfort food, creative sandwiches, and something easy to grab before exploring the rest of the neighborhood.

A Full-Circle Moment

For Crystal and Joseph, the move also carries a bit of emotional weight.

After nine years in Hillsboro Village, closing the doors there was bittersweet. But reopening in East Nashville marks something of a return to the community where their brand first found its footing.

As they put it, the restaurant may be starting a new chapter — but the spirit behind it hasn’t changed.

Same heart. New neighborhood. Still plenty of cheese.
